100 Day of School Shirt Ideas...

I can't believe we've already made it to the 100th Day of School!  So, in true teacher style I wanted a new shirt for myself and the little man...
Here is what we did last year...

We made it on the quick!  So I made a template for the wording and ironed it on...super simple!  Then we bought 100 stick on mustaches...which I hot glue gunned on for extra durability...just in case! You never know with kindergarten babies what will make it through the day!
If you want this shirt, here is the template for the wording...
Here's how you get the wording on...
You can save this template.  Then you put it in a Publisher document and flip the picture so that it appears reversed on the screen.  Then you print it on iron on transfer paper and it will appear on your shirt the right way!

This is our shirt design for this year!
If you want this one...you do the same thing as the directions above!
Have a super Sunday!

DIY No Sew Canvas "Curtains" and a whole lotta ramblin'!

Well the weather here in southeast Texas really isn't what we're used to! Let me just say that I love warm weather...I would much rather be sitting in the sun soaking up the heat and sweatin' rather than sitting inside all bundled up lathering on lotion because of the cold! Seriously...we are not use to this weather! I sure hope that Punxsutawney Phil doesn't see his shadow on Groundhog Day! This mama is ready for spring/summer weather! So the house is "kinda' sorta' done"! Yay!
Here is a snapshot of the kitchen...
The counter top on the island is a great DIY Butcher block counter top that I had the husband build from some instructions I found off Pinterest!  Like I said it's not exactly perfect yet...but we have so much going on and I want it to be just right that we are taking our time and doing one room at a time. It really is working out better this way. We are going through each box and cleaning out what we don't want to keep and donating that stuff. It is really refreshing! It feels like an early Spring Cleaning Fest for me! There really is nothing better for the soul then having a clean house with minimized clutter. We collect so much "stuff" that we just store and it never gets used...now is our chance to get rid of it!
I really love Pinterest, but who doesn't, right?! I'm not sure how I ever survived without it! Recently most of my Pinterest searches have involved the key terms "dream home"! I love seeing other peoples ideas of what they did to make their home feel homier and trying to implement those ideas to make my lil' casa a home!
Recent Try:
DIY No Sew Canvas Drop Cloth Curtains=SUCCESS!
I love when one of the projects that I try off of Pinterest works out perfectly perfect! That is exactly what happened when I started looking for curtains for the 9ft french doors on the back of my house!
DIY Instructions:
I bought two 6x9 canvas drop clothes from the painting department for each door (I have three sets of these doors).  Then I bought three sets of decorative drapery rings with clips at the bottom of the ring to attach to the canvas...this eliminates the need to sew/cut!  One decorative curtain rod for each door.  I washed the canvas panels in some luxury linen detergent and dried them in the dryer...I immediately took them out of the dryer and laid them flat on the floor.  This step meant I had eliminated the need to iron! Yay!  Then I installed the curtain rod and attached the drapery rings.  I attached the canvas to the rods by clipping the canvas to the rings! Easy-Peasey! Did I mention that each door only cost about $45!

So what is your favorite Pinterest DIY Projects?
Much Love,
Brandy

Sunday Squash...and Mario?

This weekend was very productive and for the first time this season a little on the cool side! Hallelujah! We had football pictures for the lil' man and I am just astonished at how easily the photographers can take the photos of all those lil' football players and maintain their sanity!  Cra-zay!  I was stressed just watching the picture sessions...

Let's Talk Pasta
I LOVE pasta...like obsessed with it!  I think it is probably my favorite food and I definitely consider it to be its own food group!
But I also am really into working out and eating healthy...which kind of puts a limit on how much pasta I can eat! Boo...
This weekend though I made my favorite alternative to pasta!

Spaghetti Squash...
If you have not tried it...go.GET.IT.NOW!  Seriously...stop reading this and RUN to the store!

Here is how you cook it to make it have the consistency of pasta...
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  • Cut the spaghetti squash in half on the long side...not the "equator" side (does that make sense...if not look at my pictures)
  • Pour a little olive oil onto the flesh side of the spaghetti squash and sprinkle with a little salt
  • Put the squash on a cookie sheet with the flesh side down
  • Cook for 45 minutes
  • Then take out and use a fork to separate the flesh into "pasta"
TaDa! It's that easy! A healthy, yummy alternative!

Ok...So let's get frugal!  I LOVE Halloween! It is so fun to decorate and you get to eat lots and LOTS of candy!  But this year I don't get to decorate because remember that little issue of having my house under construction...yeah well that makes it a little hard to decorate and enjoy the season! Boo...again!  BUT never fear we are definitely dressing up! Yay!
Waaaayyyy back in August I bought my lil' man a M. Mouse costume at FULL price! Seriously thought this might be the last Halloween that I might be able to persuade him to dress in what I wanted.  What I didn't know was that (even though he agreed on this costume back in August before school started) his kindergarten friends would begin talking about superheroes and video game costumes! Ugh!  So one day while he and I were enjoying a little thrift shopping we ran into a Mario costume ($6.99)! Yep...you know where this is going! The costume was just the "suit" part of it! Yay...I thought! Nope...he is convinced this is THE costume! So the hunt was on for a Mario hat...hubs and I went online and ordered the hat...but the confirmation said it would arrive shortly on November 11th!  WHAT??? Did they not realized this was for Halloween!  So we went searching in Halloween stores and found extremely large and expensive hats! Nope, that wasn't going to work either!
Look out Hobby Lobby (this just might be my favorite place)...we made that darn hat for a grand total of $4.00! Yippee!  Guess what the best part is? It is a REAL hat that he can wear this summer! Yay!
Here is a picture of how I did it...super easy! Hat, fabric glue and felt did the trick!
House Progress...oh How I wish I could Digress...
When I first pulled up to the construction site...excitement hit me! We are like 4 or 5 short weeks away from our "forever" home....I was over joyed to see the guys digging the pool...and then we heard one of them yell for the boss (the hubs)!  Guess what? They found a PIPE! A BIG DARN PIPE! What in the heck?  We had gotten clearance to dig and had done all the right paperwork...I mean we had a CONFIRMATION number!  How could there be a big ol' pipe???Well...turns out this neighborhood is sitting on a farm that used to be here on the lake and it is an old well pipe! So two days later the guys cut that baby! We are back on schedule!

I would love to hear what costumes you are making/buying for your lil' ones!

Lots of Love!
